I have run the cable directly from the battery to the socket in the tub and avoided going though the cab. The cable I used was 50A starter cable as the thicker cable would lessen the voltage drop over the lenght of the cable. The fuse is a big 20A blade fuse mounted a short distance from the starting battery, latter when the second battery goes in the regulator will be connected here as well.

This is my set up, it is not in the final configuration as I will be changing it when the draws and second battery go in.
All up it cost me about $200 cable beening most of that and done over a weekend, could have been done in a day but I was not in any hurry.

The cable was covered with spilt corragated wire protector then run through the chassis rail, this involved feeding a string with a looped end into a hole in the passenger chassis rail then fishing it out with a straightened coat hanger with a small hook on the end from another hole further along the rail, then using the string to pull the cable through. It takes awhile and will test your paience but I think it is the best way to keep the cable safe from damage.
At the socket end the cable was run up the cavity behind the passenger tail light, an earth cable was also run from a mounting bolt on the chassis up the cavity. I mounted the plug in the tub's side at the rear on the angled plate just in front of the tail light (as seen in the pic).I mounted it there because I thought it was and easy place to access with the tub full of camping gear and less likely to be broken. The plug will take the standard cig plug and a the merit plug.
All joints were soldered for reliablity and to minise voltage drop and there is a couple of metres of slack stashed under the tub to extend the cable into the tub when the second battery is installed.
